YALE SCHOOL OF ART EQUIPMENT LOAN IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN ART COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
YALE SCHOOL OF ART, EQUIPMENT LOAN OFFICE:
The Equipment Loan Office at the Yale School of Art is located in Green Hall, Room 215. Yale Media Techs will be stationed in the Equipment Loan Office weekdays to assist in borrowing procedures. Students borrowing equipment should seek assistance in the Equipment Loan Office when a Media Tech is on duty. Equipment borrowing will be available only during open hours of the Equipment Loan Office.
Official borrowing hours are:
Weekdays: 12pm-4pm
Use of Yale School of Art equipment is limited to students and Yale affiliates with a billable bursar account that are currently enrolled in classes at the School of Art. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
All equipment borrowers assume full responsibility for the well being, safety, and timely return of borrowed equipment. Borrowed equipment that is lost or damaged while in possession of someone other than the borrower remains the borrower's full responsibility while under loan. Borrowers should possess property insurance to cover the repair and/or replacement costs of damaged equipment. Borrowers also assume full responsibility for the timely return of all borrowed equipment, and must return all borrowed equipment in proper working order on the agreed upon loan return date. Failure to return equipment in a timely manner can result in fines to borrowers and/or the loss of borrowing privileges.
STUDENT BORROWERS:
To ensure reliable student borrowing and equipment availability, all student borrowers must sign out equipment and agree to return conditions prior to taking possession of borrowed equipment. Students are responsible for returning all borrowed equipment ON THE AGREED UPON DUE DATE, BY 5PM. Equipment returned late will be subject to an automatic $35 late equipment fee for the first day late. Equipment that is more than one-day late will be subject to recurring $35 late-fees for each additional day late, up to the value of the borrowed equipment. When the value of the equipment has been reached (after the initial $35 late fee), the student will be responsible for the total replacement cost of the borrowed equipment.
FACULTY BORROWERS:
Faculty members needing to borrow equipment for their classes may refer to the online equipment catalog. Damages, loss, and/or late return of equipment borrowed by faculty members will be subject to the same fee structure as outlined for students. Late and/or replacement equipment fees for faculty members will be billed to the faculty member's respective class or departmental budget.
LOAN EXTENSIONS:
Extensions on borrowed equipment are subject to supply and demand. To avoid a late fee, an extension must be arranged before the final equipment due date and confirmed in writing with the Digital Technology Office staff. Loan extensions can be requested through the online Reservations catalog.
